Shortly DTO is a product of wood processing. Its composition contains a vast number of rosin and fatty acids.
Crude tallow oil is derived by degrading of sulphate soap which is obtained in the process of raw wood cooking. Later during vacuum rectification of crude tallow oil DTO, fatty acids of tallow oil, wood rosin, tall oil pitch, and other products are obtained.
Usage:
Tallow oil is mainly used in paint-and-varnish industry. Besides, it is also widely used in petroleum industry in substances separation in the process of floatation, in building industry, and in other spheres.
Studying the market of DTO we can safely assume that fluctuation of prices has a seasonal nature. Demand for tallow oil rises sharply in summer, as this period is characterized by the highest demand for paint and varnish materials. DTO market is in a deficit in summer and in a proficit in winter. That is why our recommendation to our customers is to order DTO beforehand, to have a plan of delivery for at least half a year, all prices and terms being fixed in contracts.

There are certain advantages in using distilled tallow oil as a solvent, flocculant, coagulant, additive in the manufacture of corrosion inhibitors.
Firstly, DTO is not a product of chemical synthesis, it is obtained in the process of wood processing, thus being affordable in its price for many customers.
Secondly, in its composition DTO has already got a number of substances which can act as solvents, coagulants, and adhesive agents, which is critical in paint and varnish manufacture. Besides, unlike common solvents, DTO can be used instead of a number of additives and components which are used to obtain final products with such properties as homogeneity, chemical activity, water repellency, adhesion, and others.
There is one serious minus – an extensive chemical composition of DTO is directly dependent on starting crude material and it can vary from one batch to another. That is why it is so important to keep strict control of products delivery and to work only with guaranteed suppliers, as final properties of DTO depend on the degree of purification and rectification quality.
