Product Description
The product is used in cationic tack coat manufacture. This type of emulsion is mainly applied in tack coating, patching repair and surface treatment of road pavement.
Main Composition
Amines, fatty acids and organic solvents. The product is manufactured according to technical specifications 2416-035-17423242-2010.
Solubility
The described emulsifier is completely soluble in water; it is foam free being mixed.
Usage
The emulsifier can be used both in continuous and intermittent production machines. The distinctive feature of this emulsifier is its ability to increase adhesive properties of emulsion to stone material. The composition of water solution includes also, besides the emulsifier, sulfuric acid (to obtain pH=1.8-2.2) and an adhesive additive (when needed).
Note: the emulsifier Koltek BN-1025 is a cationic-active agent, that is why it is not recommended to pour the emulsion into containers which were previously used to keep anionic emulsion to avoid emulsion breaking into bitumen and water. The same is true of bitumen distributors which contained anionic emulsion before. In such cases it is necessary to clean thoroughly all containers with proper solvents.
Feeding
To obtain a better adhesion between the emulsion and mineral material it is possible to add to the composition of solution the adhesive additive Koltek BN-1401 (about 1.5-2kg per 1ton of emulsion).
The amount of emulsifier to produce cationic bitumen emulsion of the 1-st and 2-nd type usually constitutes from 3 to 4kg per 1ton of final product.
