Product description
The product is a mix of a mineral filler with an organic binder. It differs from conventional asphalt in that instead of bitumen a Repsol colorless binder Recofal (Spain) is used. It can be given practically any coloring by just adding the necessary pigment.
The binder is specially granulated to be fed not into bitumen boiler but into automatically controlled hopper for granular material feeding (cellulose granules hopper).
Colored bitumen concrete is a decorative product. As a rule it is manufactured in more limited quantity than conventional asphalt. So not to stop the main activity of the plant it is possible to manufacture the necessary amount of colored asphalt and then to come back to the customary mode of production.
Peculiar properties of Recofal granules allow them to melt very quickly once they are on a hot stone material. Then to obtain the necessary color a coloring agent (organic or inorganic) is fed.
The advantages of using granules
– no need to use bitumen tanks or to specially heat the binder;
– dosing accuracy and no manufacturing losses;
– no need to specially clean the tanks for colorless binder storage;
– storing in granules practically has no time or safety limits;
– low price (from € 4,5 per kg) as compared to other distributors.
Variants of coloring agents
Any colors from white to dark blue are available. It is possible to mix different colors simultaneously.
Colorless binder feeding
It is fed as a dry granulated material through a hopper for granular materials or manually. Feeding into bitumen boiler for further melting is not recommended as the product contains a cushion layer against granule clinging together which can impede binder moving through a pipe. Batch period, including binder granules and pigment feeding, their melting and homogeneous mixing takes 1.5-2.5 minutes per batch, depending on the system.
Batch temperature: 180°С.
Laydown temperature: not lower than 140°С.
